Dear NLC family, How have you been? Today, Deacon Jasmine would like to share with us one of the church’s community care ministry, and how they had continued to spread the seeds of the gospel and share the love of the Lord in a new way during the pandemic. “When the carefully designed, hand-made Christmas cards by the co-workers were sent, like snowflakes the bursts of warmth filled my heart! These greeting cards were full of deep love of the Lord! This year’s Christmas was not like previous years. Co-workers could not......

Dear NLC family, blessed new year! The year 2020, a year like no other, slipped away as we continue to battle against COVID-19. At the end of every year, media from all over the world ask the public to choose a word that they feel best represents the year that is ending. For the year 2020, many words related to COVID-19 have been chosen: 罩mask, 命fate, 瘟plague, 宅stay-home, 惶panic, 灾disaster, 封lockdown, 误mistake, 囤hoard, 关shutdown, etc. All these words, undoubtedly, portray genuine feelings of people around the world. Yet, no matter how hard......

The Covid-19 pandemic has changed the world from the beginning to the end of year 2020. In the past, physical gatherings were so common. But now, any face-to-face meeting of brothers and sisters may be perceived as rare as miracles. We complained that this pandemic has taken away our comfortable lives, yet it has allowed us to experience God’s amazing will of daily guidance. Back to the beginning of March, we were clueless as we were planning for Sunday Service@Home. Initially, our online worships only involved a few co-workers. Gradually, more and......

Two weeks ago, I received a WhatsApp message from a very good friend whom I have known for 30 years. In his message, he requested me to pray for divine strength to help him stay calm in his meeting call at 10am of the day. As he sounded urgent, I quickly texted him back with a prayer and he replied with love and gratitude. His reply tells me that he was very touched and appreciative that a friend could pray for him when he needed it. Praise the Lord! He told me......

And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.” (Luke 22:19) Dear NLC family, peace be with you. The Chinese have many beautiful cultural traditions, such as “harmony in the family leads to success in everything”, “having an elderly at home is like having a treasure”. In NLC, many families are three generations living under one roof, worshipping and serving the Lord together. Such a beautiful picture illustrates an important truth – the......

When we think about church, what immediately comes to our minds? The church building? The worship service? Church mostly means worship with singing, sermon, offerings, benediction and the never-to-be-missed “Amen” song for NLC. Last week, a few of us were invited to a home for lunch. We know each other quite well because we attend the English Worship service at NLC. We had a simple and tasty lunch, coffee, red beans soup with lots of time for conversation. We started lunch at 12:30 and left the home only at about 5:30 pm.......

One of the passages that encouraged me during the Circuit Breaker was from Matthew 14:22-33. This passage narrates the story of Jesus walking on water and how the disciples (particularly Peter) came to recognise Him as the Son of God. In the midst of uncertainty and chaos, we can take heart and be steadfast knowing that: Jesus comforts us when we are afraid When the disciples saw Jesus walking on the sea towards them, they thought He was a ghost. They were terrified and cried out in fear. I love how......

Dear Brothers and Sisters of NLC, peace be with you. Are you weary and heavy laden, weighed down by the cares of this world? Matthew 11:28 – “Come to me, all who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Only Christ can truly satisfy our hearts; only in Him can we find peace and renewal! This week, I’d like to share with you about Deacon Lisa’s reflection and gratitude during her silent retreat – “Day with Jesus”. I encourage you to intentionally set aside half a day or......

Dear Brothers and Sisters of NLC, Shalom! In Exodus 18:17-18: Moses’ father-in-law said to him, “What you are doing is not good. You and the people with you will certainly wear yourselves out, for the thing is too heavy for you. You are not able to do it alone. ” In verses 21-22: “Moreover, look for able men from all the people, men who fear God, who are trustworthy and hate a bribe, and place such men over the people as chiefs of thousands, of hundreds, of fifties, and of tens. And......

Everyone’s life has been changing since the start of the pandemic. We take precautionary measures when going outside. We bring hand sanitizers, wear face masks, check our temperature, and use “SafeEntry” check-ins. We can enter a public venue only when these measures are taken. Precautions seem to be time-consuming and troublesome, but are necessary to reduce infection risk and protect our safety. Yet, in our life of faith, do we also check our temperature and use “SafeEntry”? 1 Corinthians 10:23-24: “I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is......
